Sentiment doesn't need to have a future in order to exist.
"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened."
"Never regret anything that ever made you smile."
What it is?
Just a moment.
One thought; complete.
A sample of body, mind, and soul all at once.
Completion will equal sentiment.
How can you recall a growing feeling?
Like trying to remember all 8 hours in the car on your last big trip.
You rememer your origin. You remember your destination.
If you're lucky, the pit stops or the landmarks.
Is it not the same for feeling love and hate?
Recall a day when you dd not feel his prescence.
Feel that void once again.
Is this not simply an origin?
Now sink into him, knowing the dots in his skin
and how air sounds as it travels through his throat.
Feel warm. Feel holiday. Feel accomplished.
Destination is reached.
Now what else can you remember?
The nights you spend alone and the short naps in the car?
No.
The silly arguments or that pain in your stomach you get when you read the map?
Doubtful.
You'll likely recall the milestones.
The light rain in the park, the first snow, and the first kiss?
Of course!
Bright as day!
Just like the hot pink corvette next to you in the hotel parking lot.
Love is a journey and you have to come prepared.
Gas money and snacks.
Blankets and music.
You'll never make it without them.
And maybe this isn't life changing information,
but I hope that whenever you or someone near you yells,
ROADTRIP!
you'll check the gas gauge and refill on snacks.
You've gotta be prepared for the road.
The last thing you need is to be dragged back to your destination empy-handed.
The least you should get is a keychain.
